Santo Domingo Xenacoj ceremonial huipil.
This circa-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two wide warp-striped cotton panels joined by “randas”,
hand embroidered decorative seams. The brown stripes are “ixcaco”, hand spun, undyed natural brown cotton. The surface decoration is supplementary brocade
across the shoulders, some in silk. Xenacoj ceremonial huipils are rare. This very fine example is in excellent condition. It was acquired from the Centro de Textiles
Tradicionales Nim Po’t in Antigua Guatemala. W105 x L81 cm. (12-279) $ 225. OBO
