Santo Domingo Xenacoj daily huipil. W 80 x L 116 cm opened. This post-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two predominantly dark red warp striped cotton/rayon base panels. These panels are joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. This base material is called "aleman" and is prized for its loose drape and softness. The decoration features bird and plant motifs on the chest and across the shoulders. The collar has been trimmed with crochet. This huipil is in very good condition. It was acquired from the Nim Po’t Collection of Antigua Guatemala. (11-110) $ 95. Sold.
