Santiago Atitlán woman’s faja (sash). W6 x L210 cm plus “tails”. 91 cm of the length of this faja is decorated with beadwork in floral designs. Until recently, Santiago Atitlán women did not wear a faja. These fajas have become fashionable among younger women since Santiago Atitlán became a center for the production of beadwork jewelry. The base is hand woven on a special narrow table loom. The beadwork is done by hand. This faja is in like new condition. It was collected from Miguel Angel Mendoza Tucún of Santiago Atitlan.
