Santiago Atitlán ceremonial huipil.

This circa-1980 ceremonial huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two white cotton base panels with purple warp stripes and shadow weaving weft stripes. This huipil features the traditional Santiago Atitlán hand embroidery over taffeta collar design. These huipils are worn on religious holidays such as Good Friday and at cofradia society functions. It is dress length and worn outside the wrap skirt. This fine example was acquired from and important private collection in Antigua. W 83 x L 94 cm. (19-163) $ 120 or best offer.
