Santiago Atitlán corte (wrap skirt).

This post-1980 corte was hand woven on a foot treadle loom in two weft striped cotton panels. This corte features the very complex ikat dye patterns for which Santiago Atitlán is famous. Ikat is a dyeing technique used to pattern textiles that employs a resist dying process similar to tie-dye. This fine example is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Juana Mateo Rosales at her stall in Tinamit Maya on Calle Santander in Panajachel. Weft 91 x Warp 400 cm. (15-141) $ 90. OBO
