Santiago Atitlan corte (wrap skirt). Hand woven on a foot treadle loom in two matching cotton panels. Typical of Santiago Atitlán cortes, the panels are not equal width, with a main panel and a narrow addition. Apparently, the skirt looms don’t have a weft wide enough for Atiteco women. This corte features the very fine ikat dye patterns for which Santiago Atitlan is famous. Excellent condition. Acquired from Josefa of San Juan La Laguna at the “bomberos” market in Panajachel. 100 x 406 cm. (12-206) $ 90.
