This very fine daily huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two violet cotton base panels with maroon warp stripes. The surface decoration is all hand embroidered. In this modern example, the horizontal element of the traditional background grid has disappeared and the embroidered birds, butterflies and flowers are not structured by the background.
