Santiago Atitlán daily huipil.

This very fine post-1980 daily huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two light blue cotton base panels with dark maroon/red warp stripes. The decoration of birds and flowers is all hand embroidery. This fine example features fanciful birds and a floral collar decoration that includes some green metallic thread is used subtly within the leaves. The head opening is trimmed in a dark green hand embroidered stitch. This huipil is of very high quality and in excellent condition. It was acquired from the late Candelaria Mendoza Ruiz of Santiago Atitlán and is believed to be her work. W8 x L162 cm opened. (10-174) Was $ 175. Now $ 130. OBO
