Santa Maria de Jesus daily huipil.

Santa Maria de Jesus huipil, daily style, but likely the owner’s best and thus, used ceremonially. This circa-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two navy blue cotton base panels. These panels are extensively decorated with supplementary brocade in diamond patterns characteristic of Santa Maria de Jesus daily huipils, but much of the brocade is in silk, indicating ceremonial use. The head and arm openings are trimmed in velvet. This classic example is in excellent condition. It was acquired from an important private collection in Antigua Guatemala. W 68 x L 61 cm. (19-64) $ 150. OBO
