Santa Maria de Jesus ceremonial faja (sash/belt).

This pre-1980 faja was hand woven on a back strap loom in one warp striped cotton panel. The surface decoration is supplementary brocade featuring universal diamond and plumed serpent motifs typical of Santa Maria de Jesus, much of it in silk, indicating ceremonial use. This rare item is in very good condition. It was acquired from an anonymous private collection in Guatemala. W 24 x L 325 cm. (18-90) $150. OBO
