Santa Maria de Jesus ceremonial tzute.
This tzute was hand woven on a back strap loom in two well-balanced warp striped cotton panels, predominantly in red. These
panels are joined by a hand embroidered decorative seam and decorated with supplementary brocade featuring universal diamond and animal motifs, much of
it in silk, indicating ceremonial use. This fine example is large and in excellent condition. It was acquired from a private collection in Guatemala.
W 97 x L 110 cm. (18-85) $260. OBO
The bottom photograph was taken in Santa Maria de Jesus by Frank Lee Mays.
