Santa Maria Chiquimula vintage ceremonial huipil.

Hand woven on a back strap loom in two warp-striped cotton base panels joined by “randas”, hand embroidered decorative seams, in silk. Silk hand embroidery also surrounds the collar. The use of silk indicates ceremonial use. Chiquimula huipils are uncommon, ceremonial ones especially. Circa 1970. This example is in excellent condition.
