Santa Maria Chiquimula daily huipil.

This post-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two warp-striped cotton base panels. The panels are joined by “randas”, hand embroidered decorative seams. Hand embroidery also decorates the head opening. The dark blue warp stripes are indigo dyed. Chiquimula huipils are uncommon. This wide example is in very good condition. It was acquired from Sofia Monroy Tepeu at the La Fuente market in Antigua. W101 x L64 cm. (14-53) $ 80. OBO
