Santa Maria Chiquimula is a Quiche speaking town in the Department of Totonicapán. The town’s economy revolves around sheep herding. “Most common [in Santa Maria Chiquimula] is a type of huipil which is wide and long with dark blue and red vertical stripes’ it sometimes contains white pinstripes. It has a characteristic gold and magenta-banded randa joining the two panels.” (Conde, Maya Culture & Costume, Taylor Museum, p. 84)
