Santa Catarina Palopo vintage ceremonial huipil. W82 x L144 cm opened. This circa-1960 example was hand woven on a back strap loom in three cotton base panels with a wider center panel. The supplementary brocade decoration features rows of geometric and plant motifs. This decoration extends to the bottom, hence this huipil was worn out. Only ceremonial huipils are worn outside the skirt in Santa Catarina. This rare example is in very good condition. It was acquired from Maria Tax Gomez of Santa Catarina Palopo. (9-115) $ 220. SOLD.
