Santa Catarina Palopo daily huipil. (W75 x L116 cm opened) Hand woven on a back strap loom in three cotton panels with a wider center panel that lacks the vertical white stripes of the side panels. The supplementary brocade decoration features rows of small, isolated bird, people and geometric designs. This huipil is stylistically consistent with what was worn in Santa Catarina Palopo in 1960. However, because of its excellent condition, this huipil may be a retro design done by an older woman, likely Maria Tax Gomez of Santa Catarina Palopo from whom we collected this huipil.
