Santa Catarina Palopó daily huipil.

This pre-1970 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in three red and white warp-striped cotton base panels. The center panel is wider and more heavily decorated. The panels are decorated with supplementary weft brocade in horizontal rows featuring people, bird, plant and geometric motifs. The head opening is trimmed with a hand embroidered buttonhole stitch. It was acquired from Juana Mateo Rosales (aka, Juana de Pana) at her space in Tinamit Maya on Calle Santander in Panajachel. It is in very good condition. W85 x L72 cm. (12-308) $ 220.
