Santa Apolonia huipil.

This post-1980 daily huipil has a base of a white cotton commercial fabric known as “manta”. The decoration is hand embroidered “carefully executed to look like brocade” and is only on the back. The head and arm openings are trimmed with hand embroidered designs unique to Santa Apolonia. Santa Apolonia huipils are increasingly rare. This example is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Sra. Estefana Culajah at the La Fuente textile market in Antigua. W 75 x L 61 cm. (16-89) $ 100. OBO
