Santa Apolonia huipil.

This circa-1980 daily huipil has a base of a white cotton commercial fabric known as “manta”. The decoration is hand embroidered “carefully executed to look like brocade” and is only on the back. The head and arm openings are trimmed with hand embroidery in designs unique to Santa Aponlonia. Santa Apolonia huipils are increasingly rare. This huipil is in very good condition. This example was acquired from Sra. Ema and Carmen Tepeú at the La Fuente textile market in Antigua. W 86 x L 60 cm. (16-88) $ 100. OBO
