San Raymundo Sacatepequez vintage huipil.

This pre-1970 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two warp-striped cotton base panels. These panels are decorated by supplementary brocade featuring bird and plumed serpent motifs. San Raymundo huipils are similar to nearby San Juan, but with more purple and greater color variety. The head opening is trimmed with a hand-embroidered buttonhole stitch. San Raymundo huipils are uncommon. This vintage example is in very good condition. It was acquired from Ema and Carmen Tepeu of San Pedro Sacatepequez (G) at the La Fuente market in Antigua Guatemala. W96 x L48 cm. (14-48) Was $100. Now $85 or best offer.
