San Rafael Petzal daily huipil.
This post-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two maroon cotton/rayon blend base panels,
a prized fabric combination known for its softness and drape. The surface decoration features supplementary brocade in bird and animal
motifs in a style unique to San Rafael. It shares some characteristics of the larger nearby town of Colotenango. San Rafael Petzal style
huipils are rare. This very fine example is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Ana Carolina Ajanel of Chichicastenango.
W87 x L81 cm opened plus knotted fringes. (14-169) $160. OBO
