San Pedro Sacatepéquez (San Marcos) is a Mam speaking town in the Department of San Marcos. The daily huipils are usually single panel with foot treadle loomed ground. “The predominance of yellow silk in the woman’s costume is distinctive and San Pedro is the only town where the skirt fabric is loomed entirely of silk. . . In modern examples, rayon is commonly substituted for the more costly silk threads.” Conde, Maya Culture & Costume, Taylor Museum, p. 75)
