San Pedro Sacatepequez (G) ceremonial huipil. This post-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two wide white cotton base panels. These panels are decorated with extensive supplementary brocade featuring bird, animal and “portals” motifs. It is believed to be ceremonial because some of the brocade is in silk and it is decorated to the hem. This huipil was used in cofradia society ceremonies, weddings and other celebrations. It is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Ana Carolina Ajanel of Chichicastenango. W103 x L67 cm. (7-268) $ 150.
