San Pedro Sacatepequez (G) “cofradia” ceremonial huipil.

Hand woven on a back-strap loom in two white cotton panels joined by hand embroidered decorative seams in silk. These panels are decorated with supplementary brocade featuring the sacred cieba tree, zoomorphic and plant motifs. The collar is trimmed with silk embroidery. Ceremonial huipils are used in cofradia society ceremonies, weddings and saint’s day celebrations. Circa 1970. This large and very fine example is in excellent condition.
