San Pedro Sacatepequez (G) ceremonial huipil.

This post-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back-strap loom in two white cotton panels joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. These panels are decorated with supplementary brocade featuring sacred cieba tree and zoomorphic motifs. Ceremonial huipils was used in cofradia society ceremonies, weddings and saint’s day celebrations. This example is in very good condition. Acquired from Sofia Monroy Tepeú of San Pedro Sacatepequez (G) at the La Fuente textile market in Antigua. W 97 x L 57 cm. (15-280) $ 200. OBO
