San Pedro Necta is a Mam speaking town in the Department of Huehuetenango. It is located in one of the steepest parts of the Cuchumatanes mountains. The people grow sugar cane and bananas in the valleys of the Selegua and Santa Ana Huista rivers. The women’s huipil is unique in that it is constructed of one panel with the warp threads running horizontally around the body, partially hemmed at the top to leave a head hole.
