San Pedro Ayampuc daily huipil? W 89 x L 116 cm opened. This circa-1980 huipil is reported to be from San Pedro Ayampuc by the vendor. However, San Pedro Ayampuc huipils are probably no longer made and we and those we have consulted are unfamiliar with the daily huipil from this village, having only previously seen the few remaining ceremonials. If correctly identified, this huipil is very rare. But it has been suggested that it is a variation of a Santiago Sacatepequez huipil. Regardless, it is hand woven on a back strap loom in two white cotton panels with red warp stripes. It is very good condition. It was acquired from Juana Escalon of Patzun at the La Fuente market in Antigua. (11-84) $ 60.
