This post-1980 daily huipil utilizes a heavy commercial cotton base known as "manta". The unique feature of the San Mateo style is the extensive hand embroidered star patterns radiating out from the neck opening. This huipil is reversible with the embroidery appearing equally on both sides. These huipils are becoming increasingly rare. This example is in excellent condition.
