San Mateo Ixtatán huipil.

This fine circa-1980 huipil is all hand embroidered on a double thickness of commercial “manta” cotton fabric. Reversible and with the original collar, rows of appliqué ribbon on a cotton base. The principal pattern in the embroidery is of overlapping stars with complete coverage above and animal and plants embroidered on the exposed white below. These huipils weigh 10-15 lbs. This fine example is in very good condition with some apparent wear along the bottom edge. It was acquired from the collection of Richard Stanton. W 120 x L 79 cm. (18-19) $ 225. OBO
