San Mateo Ixtatan daily huipil.

This fine post-1980 huipil is all hand embroidered on a double thickness of commercial “manta” cotton fabric. The finest examples, such as this one, are reversible and have the original collars, rows of appliqué ribbon on a cotton base. In the classic style, the principal pattern in the embroidery is of overlapping stars with complete coverage above and animal and plants embroidered on the exposed white below. These huipils weigh 10-15 lbs. This outstanding example is in very good condition. Acquired from Julio Cesar Ajanel at his tienda on Calle Santander in Panajachel. W 114 x L 71 cm. (15-227) $ 450. OBO
