San Mateo Ixtatan daily huipil.

This fine post-180 huipil is all hand embroidered on a double thickness of commercial “manta” cotton fabric. The finest examples, such as this one, are reversible and have the original collars. The collars are rows of appliqué ribbon on a cotton base. In the classic style, the principal pattern in the embroidery is of overlapping stars with complete coverage above and animal and plants embroidered on the exposed white below. These huipils weigh 10-15 lbs. This outstanding example is in very good condition. It was acquired from Julio Cesar Ajanel at his tienda on Calle Santander in Panajachel. W 107 xL 74 cm. (15-115) $ 460. OBO
