San Martin Sacatepequez (aka, Chile Verde) daily huipil.

This post-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two well-matched white all cotton panels that are joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. The surface decoration is supplementary brocade featuring rather random placement of bird and plant motifs, particularly the “pavo real” motifs and the plumed serpent across the shoulders. The collar is trimmed with an embroidered chain stitch. This striking example is finely woven and in excellent condition. It was acquired from Ema and Carmen Tepeú at the La Fuente textile market in Antigua. W 82 x L 70 cm. (15-110) $120. OBO
