San Martin Sacatepequez (aka San Martin Chile Verde) huipil, likely ceremonial. W104 x L168 cm opened. This
exceptional post-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two well-matched red cotton base panels.
These panels are decorated by supplementary brocade featuring interlocking plumed serpent and universal diamond
motifs. The collar is trimmed with a hand embroidered chain stitch. Its relatively large size and the nature
of the decoration indicate possible ceremonial use. This huipil is in excellent condition. It was acquired from
Petronila Mendez Bocó of Santa Maria de Jesus. (10-137) $ 125. SOLD.
