San Martin Jilotepeque vintage huipil.
This 1960’s huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two well matched indigo dyed base panels. These panels are decorated with
supplementary brocade in cotton and silk. The silk indicates ceremonial use. The principal design in the brocade is the plumed serpent motif. The head and
arm openings are trimmed in velvet. It also features a velvet "luna" on the chest. It is in very good condition, but shows general fading that is accentuated where darts were
removed. It was acquired from Ema and Carmen Tepeu of San Pedro Sacatepéquez (G). W74 x L120 cm opened. (7-86) Was $ 95. Now $ 65. OBO
