This pre-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two well-balanced indigo dyed cotton base panels. These panels are decorated with brocade featuring the plumed serpent and universal diamond motifs. The head opening is trimmed with a hand embroidered appliqué collar. This fine example is in very good condition. It was acquired from Ana Carolina Ajanel of Chichicastenango. W74 x L57 cm. (11-281) $ 120.
