San Lucas Toliman vintage huipil.

This pre-1970 daily huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two white cotton panels with red warp stripes. These panels are decorated with embroidered rows of birds (ducks and chickens?), some double-headed. The use of embroidery instead of the more typical brocade may show the influence of nearby Santiago Atitlán. This huipil is in very good condition. It was acquired from Ana Carolina Ajanel of Chichicastenango. W64 x L112 cm opened. (9-94) $ 50. OBO
