San Lucas Toliman daily huipil. W 93 x L 123 cm opened. This post-1980 daily huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two well matched white cotton base panels joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. These panels are decorated with rows of supplementary brocade in geometric and animal motifs typical of San Lucas Toliman. The head opening is trimmed with a thick embroidered stitch in the style of San Pedro Sacatepequez (G). It is uniquely wide for a San Lucas huipil and in excellent condition. It was acquired from Bonifacia Mendez Bocó at the Artesanos market in Antigua. (11-75) $ 100.
