San Juan La Laguna daily huipil.

This post-2000 daily huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two gray and red warp-striped cotton panels. The stripes include some with ikat dye patterns. It is decorated with hand embroidered plant motifs around the head opening. This contemporary huipil, reflecting local fashion, is larger and a different construction than older huipils from San Juan La Laguna. It is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Ana Tax Gomez at the “bomberos” market in Panajachel. W 71 x L 101 cm plus hand knotted fringes. (15-99) $ 80. OBO
