This circa-1960 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two red and white warp striped cotton panels. It has a bottom fringe indicating that it was worn out, indicating probable ceremonial use. The traditional collar decoration is hand embroidered. Older San Juan La Laguna huipils in cotton are rare. This example is in very good condition.
