San Juan Atitán daily huipil.

This post-1980 daily huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in three primarily red, blue and white warp striped cotton blend panels. The center panel is wider and more heavily decorated with supplementary brocade in geometric patterns, most commonly variations of the universal diamond. San Juan Atitán women weave while standing. The hand and arm openings are trimmed with hand embroidery. This huipil is in very good condition. It was acquired from Petronila Mendez Bocó of Santa Maria de Jesus at the Artesanos market in Antigua. (See Petronila’s picture in our “Vendors” section.) W 101 x L 161 cm opened. (11-67) $ 100. OBO
