San Jose Poaquil daily huipil.

This circa-1980 daily huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two very well matched white cotton base panels. It features the red band across the shoulders, typical of Poaquil and older huipils from nearby San Juan Comalapa. The panels are decorated with supplementary brocade that primarily depicts plant motifs. The blue dye used is indigo. This fine example is in very good condition. It was acquired from Petronila Mendez Bocó of Santa Maria de Jesus. W82 x L120 cm opened. (9-85) $ 70. OBO
