San Jose Poaquil ceremonial huipil.

This pre-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two well-matched white cotton panels decorated with horizontal bands of supplementary brocade, some of it in silk. It features the red band across the shoulders, also typical of older huipils from nearby San Juan Comalapa, but usually wider in Poaquil. The supplementary brocade depicts bird and floral motifs. This rare example is in very good condition. It was acquired from Sra. Dona Ema Tepeu at the La Fuente textile market in Antigua. W 96 x 50 cm. (15-242) Was $350. Now $300 or best offer.
