San Jose Poaquil ceremonial (sobre) huipil. This post-1980 ceremonial huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two white cotton panels decorated with
supplementary brocade. It features the red band across the shoulders, also typical of older huipils from nearby San Juan Comalapa. The supplementary brocade
depicts bird and plant motifs. This fine example is in excellent condition. Ceremonial huipils from Poaquil are rare. Acquired from Juana Mateo Rosales of
Panajachel. W101 x L65 cm. (14-32) $ 190. OBO
