San Jose Nacahuil daily huipil. W86 x L126 cm opened. This post-1980 daily huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two well matched white cotton panels. The panels are joined by a delicate hand embroidered decorative seam. The decoration is a dense supplementary brocade that is of an almost abstract design. San Jose Nacahuil huipils are influenced by the much larger and nearby San Pedro Sacatepéquez (G) huipils. However, they are much less common. This very fine example is in excellent condition. It was acquired from the Nim Po't Collection of Antigua Guatemala. (8-134) $ 140.
