San Jose Nacahuil vintage daily huipil.

This circa-1970 daily huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two white cotton base panels that are joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. These panels are decorated with dense supplementary brocade featuring universal diamond and facing-quetzal bird (duality) motifs. Some of the thread in the brocade is indigo dyed. San Jose Nacahuil huipils are uncommon, especially one this old. Yet, this outstanding example is in very good condition. It was acquired from Petronila Mendez Bocó at the Mercado des Artesanos in Antigua Guatemala. W 89 x L 59 cm. (15-94) $ 320. OBO
