San Jose Nacahuil daily huipil.

This post-1980 daily huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two white cotton base panels. These panels are joined by hand embroidered decorative seams and decorated with dense supplementary brocade featuring universal diamond motifs in an almost abstract mélange. San Jose Nacahuil huipils are influenced by the much larger and nearby San Pedro Sacatepéquez (G) huipils, but are much less common. The head opening and arm openings are trimmed with blue velvet and appliqué. This fine example is in very good condition. It was acquired from Ema and Carmen Tepeu at the La Fuente textile market in Antigua Guatemala. W 74 x L 60 cm. (1-51) $ 90.
