San Ildefonso Ixtahuacan ceremonial huipil.
(W115 x L119 cm opened) This huipil circa-1975 ceremonial huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in three cotton base
panels with a wider center panel, joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. It is decorated by supplemental brocade
on all panels in patterns typical of the Colotenango area. The decoration around the collar is hand embroidered and
partially in silk, indicating likely ceremonial use. Ceremonial huipils from San Ildefonse are rare. It is in excellent
condition. It was acquired from Juana Mateo Rosales in Panajachel.
