San Ildefonso Ixtahuacán is a Mam speaking town in the Department of Huehuetenango ten kilometers west of the Pan-American Highway at Colotenango. Its huipil is made of three panels with a wider and more extensively decorated center panel, similar to that of Colotenango except for an area of hand embroidery, usually in floral designs, around the collar. The unique backstrap loomed skirts of all the towns around Colotenango, including Ixtahuacán, are essentially alike.
