San Antonio Palopó daily huipil.

This contemporary daily huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in three warp-striped cotton blend base panels. These panels are joined by very fine hand embroidered decorative seams. The weaving features complex multi-colored warp stripes with very simple ikat dye patterns. San Antonio Palopó huipils typically do not have supplementary brocade decoration. These huipils are traditionally worn with multiple strands of gold beads. The collar is decorated by hand embroidery. This example is in like new condition. It acquired from Maria Sacajan Perez of San Antonio Palopó at the La Fuente market in Antigua Guatemala. W 80 x L 82 cm. (15-91) $ 80. OBO
