This pre-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in three warp-striped cotton base panels. These stripes are complex weavings predominantly in red and green. San Antonio Palopó huipils typically do not have supplementary brocade. These huipils were traditionally worn with multiple strands of gold beads. This huipil is large, long and in very good condition. It was collected from Bonifacia Mendez Bocó of Santa Maria de Jesus at the Mercado des Artesanos in Antigua Guatemala. W 93 x L94 cm.
